Properties
Anhydrous sodium metasilicate is a white granular or powder product with bulk density 1.00–1.35 g/mL, melting point 1089°C, and molecular weight 122. It is non-toxic, odorless, and readily soluble in water but insoluble in alcohol and acid. Its aqueous solution is alkaline with excellent pH buffering capacity, and it easily absorbs moisture from air.

- Food, meat, and dairy processing equipment sanitation
- Clay dispersion and deflocculation in ceramics and drilling fluids
